Amandine Kuhlmann's creative work

Amandine Kuhlmann: Visual Artist and Fine Art Photographer

Amandine Kuhlmann is a Paris-based visual artist and photographer who graduated from the École cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL) in 2023. Her multifaceted practice integrates performance, photography, and video to interrogate social and political questions, particularly surrounding the concept of femininity and its representation in the digital age. A central theme in her work is the performative nature of social media and its role in the commodification of women's bodies. In her acclaimed project, Cash Me Online, Amandine Kuhlmann develops hypersexualized alter egos that inhabit both virtual and physical spaces. Through these characters, she re-enacts and exaggerates contemporary digital archetypes such as the wellness-focused Clean girl and Mukbang content creators. Her technical approach often involves the use of found footage and deepfake technology, where she overlays her own face onto existing bodies to highlight the artificiality of online personas. Amandine Kuhlmann has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP) and has participated in the Biennale Images Vevey. Her critical and often sarcastic perspective invites viewers to reflect on the societal standards imposed by virtual spaces, moving toward a path of liberation from restrictive gender tropes.
