Barbara Salomé Felgenhauer: Multidisciplinary Visual Artist and Photographer
Barbara Salomé Felgenhauer is a Brussels-based multidisciplinary artist and researcher whose practice integrates photography, film, performance, and installation. Born in Huy, Belgium, in 1992, she studied at ESA Saint-Luc in Liège and ENSAV La Cambre in Brussels, where she received the prestigious Prix de la Fondation Boghossian in 2022. Her work is deeply rooted in ecofeminist thought, often manifesting through her creative laboratory titled 'J'ai rêvé l'obscur.' Within this space, she investigates the political and spiritual relationships between the human body and the natural world, particularly through major projects like 'Jusque là où l'eau est profonde' and 'Terrapolis.' Felgenhauer's artistic process involves rigorous cross-disciplinary research in history, sociology, and philosophy, frequently viewed through the lens of gender. Her projects, such as 'Et si Bernadette avait rêvé l'obscur,' utilize storytelling as a vital tool for emancipation, challenging established cultural stereotypes and proposing new ways of inhabiting the world. Her works are held in prominent public collections including the BPS22, urban.brussels, and the Arthotèque de la Province de Liège. With a career that spans international residencies from Quebec to Greece, Felgenhauer continues to explore the evocative power of light, water, and ritual, creating immersive experiences that invite deep reflection on environmental and social narratives.
