Bertan zer is a prominent Turkish cinematographer and Director of Photography (DOP) whose visual language has become a defining element of contemporary Turkish cinema. Born in Istanbul in 1980, Bertan zer began his academic journey in the Radio-TV department of Trakya University before graduating from the prestigious Cinema department at Marmara University. This rigorous educational background provided the foundation for a career that seamlessly blends technical precision with artistic sensitivity. His professional path started in the fast-paced world of television journalism, where he worked as a cameraman for the legendary news show 32. Gn. This experience in documentary-style capture transitioned into a successful career in narrative filmmaking. Bertan zer has since collaborated with various visionary directors to produce visually striking feature films and documentaries. He is a member of the Grnt Ynetmenleri Dernei (GYD), the cinematographers' association in Turkey. Among his notable credits is the 2022 film Guilt (Kabahat), directed by mran Safter, which received critical acclaim at festivals like the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. He also served as the DOP for Ali Tansu Turhan’s innovative 2021 feature Dialogue (Diyalog)His documentary work includes the evocative cinematography for The Sin of Being a Woman (Kadn Olmann Gnah), a project documenting the life of Nezihe Muhiddin.
