Celestine Thomas's creative work

Celestine Thomas: Contemporary Colourist and Artist Facilitator

Celestine Thomas is a London-based contemporary artist and colourist whose practice is deeply rooted in the expressive potential of colour. Born in 1993 and a graduate of Middlesex University's Fine Art programme, Celestine treats colour as a primary language—a tool for storytelling and emotional connection that she finds more accessible than traditional text, a perspective shaped by her lived experience with dyslexia. Her body of work spans multiple disciplines, including painting, sculpture, and printmaking, often featuring semi-abstract compositions and vibrant, playful palettes. Celestine's artistic process frequently incorporates found objects and unconventional materials like Mega Bloks and Perspex, reflecting a sense of childhood wonder and a desire to reimagine the everyday. Her sculptures, such as 'Pet' and 'Animal', transform discarded or simple materials into meaningful works of art that explore themes of memory and transformation. In addition to her studio practice, Celestine Thomas works as an artist facilitator, leading creative workshops that encourage participants to develop their own visual languages. Her work has gained significant recognition, having been exhibited at prestigious venues such as The Koppel Collective and Mall Galleries in the UK. She was also notably shortlisted for the Heralbony Art Prize 2025 in Tokyo, further establishing her presence in the international contemporary art scene. Through her art, Celestine invites viewers to embrace a resourceful and colourful nature, appreciating the beauty and creativity found in simple objects.
