Corina del Carmel: Prolific Surrealist Painter and Visual Artist

Corina del Carmel is a distinguished Mexican surrealist painter and visual artist whose career has been shaped by a deep curiosity and a global perspective. Born in Monterrey, Mexico, she began oil painting at age twelve and later earned a BA in Graphic Arts from the University of Nuevo Leon. Her artistic evolution has been influenced by her extensive travels through Mexico, where she lived and painted among indigenous communities such as the Tarahumara, Huichol, and Mayan peoples. Corina del Carmel's work is celebrated for its virtuosic celebrations of unity and its synthesis of Mexican and United States avant-garde influences. Between 2000 and 2006, she lived in Berlin, Germany, broadening her talents to include various artistic printing techniques. Currently based in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, she maintains a permanent studio surrounded by forest and garden. Her recent visit to Puerto Rico's rainforest further emphasizes her commitment to exploring the intersection of land, spirit, and sustainability.
