Cristina White-Jones's creative work

Cristina White-Jones | Abstract Expressionism & Mixed Media Art

Cristina White-Jones is a Texas-based abstract mixed media artist whose work is a profound exploration of emotion, movement, and the physical properties of paint. Holding a BFA in painting from Texas State University, Cristina White-Jones has cultivated a practice that prioritizes texture and color as primary vehicles for storytelling. Her art is deeply personal, often informed by her long-term journey with chronic pain and physical disability, as well as more recent experiences with grief and loss. These challenges are channeled into her canvases as layers of meaning, where personal hardships are represented through rich, tactile surfaces and complex layering. Operating out of her personal workspace, Studio 303, Cristina White-Jones experiments with a wide variety of media, including acrylics, recycled papers, cardboard, and found objects. This experimental approach allows her to achieve a level of depth that invites viewers to engage with the work on a sensory level. Her compositions are characterized by a balance of organic forms inspired by her upbringing on a ranch near Austin and the energetic pulse of urban life. Beyond her individual creative output, Cristina White-Jones is dedicated to the community, teaching art classes to students of all ages in Buda, Texas. Her philosophy of mind over matter permeates her teaching and her portfolio, reflecting a belief that art can transform negative experiences into something inherently beautiful. By marrying the organic allure of nature with the dynamic palette of human emotion, Cristina White-Jones continues to inspire others through her resilient and vibrant artistic vision.
