Güliz Kayahan: Contemporary Art Exploring Memory and Emotions
Güliz Kayahan is an Istanbul-based contemporary artist whose practice is deeply rooted in the intersection of Fine Arts and Philosophy. Born in 2001 in Yalova, Güliz Kayahan graduated from Yeditepe University with a double major in Fine Arts and Painting alongside Philosophy, further enriching her perspective with a minor in Art and Culture Management. Her multidisciplinary approach incorporates collage, installation, video art, and painting to investigate the complexities of human emotions, memory, and personal experiences. The work of Güliz Kayahan often centers on conceptual themes such as loneliness, alienation, belonging, and the passage of time. Through series like 'Loneliness,' 'Papers of a Lifetime,' and 'As If They'll Never Leave,' she creates a space for social inquiry, inviting viewers to engage in a dialogue with their own histories and emotions. By disrupting the structure of photographs and combining varied materials, Güliz Kayahan explores the act of 'being' and the emotional bonds that persist after moments become memories. Her work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions in Istanbul and Yalova, reflecting a practice dedicated to fostering reflection on the individual's place within the collective.
