Javier Dirty: Graphic Design and Multidisciplinary Artistic Murals
Javier Dirty, professionally known as Javier Alarcón, is a Barcelona-based graphic designer and artist whose work bridges the gap between urban street culture and professional design. Born in 1984, he developed an early interest in graffiti and letterforms, starting his journey with tags and murals in 2001. This foundational passion for typography led him to study graphic design and work in several creative agencies until 2019, when he transitioned to a multidisciplinary solo practice in his studio in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. Javier Dirty's creative output is divided between commercial branding projects and large-scale public artworks. He has collaborated with prominent international brands, including Mango, Foot Locker, Pull & Bear, and Flax+Kale, providing art direction and visual identities. His mural work is a significant part of his portfolio, featuring interventions in forgotten urban spaces and commissions for the L'Hospitalet City Council and major festivals such as GARGAR and WAC Poblenou. His work has been exhibited in various collective and solo shows across Spain, including SWAB Barcelona and Montana Gallery. Through his blend of graffiti techniques and professional graphic design, Javier Dirty continues to create impactful visual narratives that celebrate the intersection of art and identity.
