Katarina Juricic's creative work

Katarina Juricic: Visual Artist and Fine Art Photographer

Katarina Juricic is a visual artist and researcher born in 1994 in Zagreb, Croatia, and currently based between The Netherlands and Croatia. Her artistic practice is dedicated to exploring the physicality of photography, where she seeks new forms to embody the medium beyond its traditional flat representation. Juricic designs immersive environments where immaterial elements such as light and color gain physical properties, evoking familiar yet profound sensory experiences. Her work is deeply rooted in a study of perception, as seen in projects like 'Orange&Blue,' where she recreates the full range of sunlight colors using the darkness of a photo studio to probe the materialization of memory. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in Den Haag, she has also studied journalism at the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb. Her career is marked by significant exhibitions at Galerie Bart, Galerie Ron Mandos, Melkweg Expo, and the International Photography Festival Organ Vida. Juricic's work is part of the Akzonobel Art Foundation collection, and she has received the Mondriaan Artist Start stipend. Beyond her fine art research, she is an active art director and scenographer, applying her expertise in visual storytelling to the film and commercial industries. Her unique approach continues to challenge how audiences perceive and interact with light, form, and color in contemporary visual media.
