Lucia Giarratana: Choreographer and Movement Artist

Lucia Giarratana is an accomplished Italian choreographer and dancer, currently based in Germany, who has established herself as a significant voice in the European contemporary dance scene. Trained at the prestigious Ecole Suprieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower, Lucia Giarratana brings a rich technical foundation to her innovative choreographic work. Her professional career includes notable tenures at the Chemnitz Theatre, Landestheater Eisenach, and Staatstheater Meiningen, where she performed as a soloist and developed her own creative pieces. Now a member of the Stadttheater Bremerhaven company, Lucia Giarratana continues to create visceral and emotionally resonant choreography. Her works, such as “Paradeigma” and “Omnia Vincit Amor,” are celebrated for their intricate movement patterns and ability to convey complex human connection. She was also recognized in the Emerging Choreographers Competition in Biarritz for her piece “If you hold him close, you hear soft sweet sounds.” Beyond the stage, Lucia Giarratana holds a Master's degree in arts and cultural management and in Dance Pedagogy, underscoring her holistic approach to the performing arts and creative direction. Her practice often involves multidisciplinary collaboration, working as an assistant choreographer for opera and ballet productions across Europe.
