Mathias Kruse Joergensen's creative work

Mathias Kruse Joergensen, multidisciplinary artist

Mathias Kruse Joergensen (b. 1991) is a Danish multidisciplinary artist working across a range of medium including photography, sculpture, video and objects. He holds an MA in Photography from Royal College of Art in London (2018-20). His works initiates somewhere in-between the personal and the societal, with things or thoughts from his own life often triggering existential wonderings; e.g. the scars on his skin, his car or the plaster walls defining his studio space. With minimal intervention he examines the traces, history and contemporaneity of these things and their so often built-in dualities end up defining the core of his work. Presence and absence. Documentation and abstraction. Object and representation. Life and death. In 2020 he was awarded the New Photography Award (Jury: Marianna Simnett) and his most recent exhibitions include London Grads Now at Saatchi Gallery (London, UK), Sculptural Landscapes at Galleri Format (Malm, SE) and Continuum at Arden Asbaek Gallery (Copenhagen, DK).
