Minna Kokko Contemporary Visual Artist
Minna Kokko is a Finnish contemporary visual artist currently living and working in France. Born in 1968, her artistic journey began with studies in literature and international relations before transitioning into professional photography training at Gobelins l'Ecole de l'Image in Paris. Kokko's creative practice is deeply rooted in her childhood connection with nature, which remains the central focus of her work. She specializes in a unique process where photography serves as the starting point, later transformed through digital treatment and the superposition of multiple images to achieve a texture and depth that approaches painting. Her series, such as 'Living' and 'The Wells of Life,' investigate the common nature of all living things—from plant cells under a microscope to massive forest structures. By experimenting with transparencies and diverse printing supports like wood, aluminum, and paper, Kokko emphasizes the fragility and interconnectedness of the world. She is an active member of artist collectives like Grap's and Art Rencontre in the Paris region, as well as the international women photographers' collective Tend. Her work is recognized by international publications and galleries, including Artdoc and Jaguar Arte, and she has exhibited extensively across Europe.
