Mohamad Moe Sabbah | Filmmaker, Performer, and Visual Artist

Mohamad Moe Sabbah is a Lebanese filmmaker and artist currently based in Cologne, Germany, having established a significant creative presence in Beirut. Born in 1990, his work is deeply rooted in cinematic exploration and performance art. Mohamad Moe Sabbah holds both a BA and an MA in filmmaking from the Acadmie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA), where he also contributed as an educator. His artistic vision is often viewed through a queer perspective, challenging traditional notions of family structures, love, grief, and the representation of the body. Throughout his career, Mohamad Moe Sabbah has produced a diverse body of work ranging from acclaimed short films such as The Return and Awakening to his debut feature film, Chronic. His more recent hybrid documentary, Embodied Chorus, premiered at IDFA, further solidifying his reputation in international cinema. Beyond traditional filmmaking, his practice has expanded into performance art, where he creates non-human creatures and immersive narratives. He has also directed music videos and commercial campaigns, blending high-concept artistic themes with commercial media. His works have been featured in numerous international festivals, earning him various awards and critical recognition.
