Nadège Marneffe: Contemporary Painting and Botanical Art

Nadège Marneffe is a distinguished French artist and colourist currently living and working in Meudon, on the outskirts of Paris, France. Her artistic practice is deeply rooted in a fascination with the natural world, a passion she traces back to her childhood in Eastern France, a region renowned for its Art Nouveau heritage. With a professional background as a graduate in art and architecture and a former career as an entrepreneur in the textile industry, Nadège Marneffe brings a unique structural and tactile sensibility to her creative work. Defining herself primarily as a colourist, Nadège Marneffe views her art as a medium to connect with living beings and re-enchant the human relationship with the environment. Her work is characterized by vibrant colours, energy, and the spontaneous application of brushstrokes. Since establishing herself in a shared atelier in 2020, she has developed several significant series, most notably those inspired by her travels to the United Kingdom. Her 2023 collection reflects her experiences at Kew Gardens, where she explored the romantic dialogue between classical glasshouse architecture and the lush, organic forms of giant tropical leaves. Nadège Marneffe does not consider herself a traditional landscape painter; rather, she approaches her subjects as an enthusiastic naturalist. Her paintings, which include works like 'Sous les passiflores' (oil on linen), often feature tropical greenhouses, exotic birds, and botanical studies that capture the life piercing through the landscape. Through her exploration of various mediums, including painting, drawing, and illustration, she creates a poetic and naturalist vision that celebrates the strength and beauty of the living world. Her exhibitions, such as those at The Muisca Gallery in Paris, showcase her ongoing commitment to exploring the intersections of art, nature, and colour.
