Nicolas Brunetti: Documentary Photography and Visual Storytelling

Nicolas Brunetti is an Italian documentary photographer born in 1990. His artistic practice is defined by his dedication to long-term photographic projects that address significant social and environmental issues. Brunetti focuses on telling the stories of circumscribed communities, particularly those living in precarious conditions, facing social exclusion, or dealing with marginalization. His approach provides an intimate and personal glimpse into the daily lives of local inhabitants, aiming to convey a sense of urgency and highlight collective needs. One of his most prominent works, Inshallah, explores the lives of young Muslims in Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in Africa. This project investigates the themes of belonging, exclusion, and hope in a city marked by high unemployment and physical borders. The title, meaning 'if God wills,' encapsulates the uncertainty and faith of the youth he documents. Brunetti’s commitment to his craft is evidenced by his extensive training, including masterclasses with renowned photographers like Antonio Faccilongo, Federico Borella, and Fulvio Bugani. In 2025, he was selected for the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop in New York and the Photograph-ER program at Fotografia Europea. Brunetti has earned significant recognition in the field of photography. He was a finalist in the National Geographic Italy photography contest in 2018 and has received accolades from various international festivals, including the Trieste Photo Days and the Angkor Photo Festival. His work has been featured in high-profile publications such as Vogue, InsideOver, and Perimetro. By documenting the intersection of human stories and systemic challenges, Nicolas Brunetti continues to contribute a vital perspective to contemporary documentary photography.
