Nuno Alexandre Nunes: Abstract and Figurative Painter.
Nuno Alexandre Nunes. Lisbon. 04/03/1989 Currently pursuing a doctorate in architecture. He holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from ISCTE and a Master’s degree Interior Design. His artistic work and reflection are strongly influenced by artists such as El Greco, J. M. W. Turner, Monet, Cy Twombly, Joao Queiroz, Joe Bradley, and by bands including Riding Panico, Cult of Luna, Khoma, Explosions in The Sky, and If These Trees Could Talk. These influences play a significant role in shaping his thinking and practice in painting and drawing. Painting and drawing are his primary means of engaging with daily life and with himself. They serve as instruments for reflection and study of his memories, thoughts, meditations, and contemplations, as well as of the surrounding environment. Landscape, figurative work, and abstraction are central themes, as they function as vehicles for self-recognition. They also transport him to other places and contexts, offering an escape from the reality he inhabits and transforming it into a more serene version of truth. Within landscape paintings, architectural drawings, gardens, and intimate, personal, introspective abstraction, disorder gradually organizes itself on canvas and paper, approaching a potential veracity that remains unknown. It is not the final result that matters, but the journey undertaken to reach the desired outcome.
