Phoebe J Kelly | Visual Artist and Photographer
Phoebe J Kelly is an accomplished visual artist, photographer, and creative producer based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2019, Phoebe J Kelly has established a practice deeply rooted in the exploration of connection, observation, and the ephemeral nature of daily existence. Her work often bridges the gap between the intangible and the physical, utilising photography alongside material processes such as sculpture and installation. At the heart of her creative output is an interrogation of the photographic image’s materiality. Phoebe J Kelly frequently employs analogue and alternative photographic processes to examine the complex relationship between the image, time, and memory. Her artistic inquiry extends to the presence and absence found within the everyday, seeking to preserve the ineffable while acknowledging the inherent loss in that pursuit. Phoebe J Kelly was named a 2025 Ian Potter Cultural Trust Visual Arts Grantee and was a finalist in the 2024 National Photographic Portrait Prize. Her practice remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of traditional photography, translating invisible forces into tangible visual experiences.
