Pit Riewer's creative work

Pit Riewer: Contemporary Painting and Abstract Visual Arts

Pit Riewer is a contemporary artist based in Luxembourg whose creative practice is deeply rooted in the medium of painting. Having graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 2022, his work has quickly gained recognition within the European art scene. Pit Riewer focuses on the tension between classical representation and complete abstraction, often utilizing altered or incomplete photographic references to construct his compositions. His approach highlights the emotional resonance of color and the physical energy of the brushstroke, resulting in works that feel both familiar and alienating. The artist's development includes time at the Minerva Academy in Groningen before refining his pictorial language in Antwerp. Pit Riewer was honored as the laureate of the Prix Révélation at the Salon du CAL in 2023, a prestigious recognition of his emerging talent. His solo exhibition, NO FORM, NO SHAPE, held at the Centre d'art Nei Liicht in Dudelange, showcased his exploration of formless forms and dreamlike, distorted moments. Represented by the Reuter Bausch Art Gallery, his paintings are held in significant public and private collections, including the Musée de la Ville de Luxembourg and the Ministry of Culture. Through his exploration of nocturnal scenes and the fleeting nature of everyday dramas, Pit Riewer continues to push the boundaries of contemporary abstract painting.
