Qinlin Yang | Printmaking and Drawing Portfolio in London
Qinlin Yang is a professional Chinese artist and printmaker based in London, UK, whose practice is deeply rooted in the exploration of immigrant psychological well-being, identity, and belonging. Her work predominantly focuses on diaspora narratives and the reconstruction of places, studying the social and political aspects of immigration communities through visual media. Qinlin Yang primarily utilizes the mezzotint technique and drawing to articulate the feelings of loneliness and alienation experienced during relocation. Her technical approach involve creating custom background textures on metal plates, where directional lines and blurred imagery symbolize the passage of time and the emotional weight of displacement. Educated in Illustration and Book Art at Anglia Ruskin University and trained at the Royal Drawing School, she has developed a unique artistic voice that captures dynamic movement and individual isolation beneath urban frameworks. Her work has been featured in exhibitions such as 'In Transition' and 'Wandering Till the Wind Whispers My Land,' and she has held residencies at East London Printmakers. Through her practice, Qinlin Yang aims to express an unspoken sense of oppression and visually articulate the psychological trauma brought by the immigrant experience, contributing to the contemporary dialogue on cross-cultural navigating.
