Rodrigo Veloso – Multidisciplinary Visual Artist and Illustrator
Rodrigo Veloso is a Lisbon-born multidisciplinary artist currently based in Brooklyn, New York. Holding a Master's degree in Architecture from the University of Lisbon, his unique artistic perspective is deeply informed by his professional background in spatial design and composition. After practicing as an architect at ARX Portugal Arquitectos, he transitioned to a full-time artistic career that encompasses painting, illustration, and graphic design. He is a partner at Studio Ayer, an independent design consultancy where he applies his visual expertise to diverse projects. His work is primarily characterized by a profound interest in texture and materiality, often utilizing oil pastels as a central medium to create layered and evocative pieces. Drawing from his extensive travels, Rodrigo Veloso explores themes of nature, the human figure, and the intricate relationships between cultural environments and personal experience. His art has been exhibited globally in cities such as Paris, Madrid, Lisbon, and New York. He actively engages with the local New York creative scene, collaborating with groups like Eyes on Art and joining the Global Artist Community 'Tableau' by Visionary Projects NYC. Through his tactile approach, he creates a visual language that balances his architectural precision with the organic movement found in fine art, making his portfolio a rich study in color, form, and layered meaning.
