Snieguole Vaivadiene | Sniege: Sculptural Ceramics: The Metamorphosis of Clay into Stories.
Snieguole Vaivadiene (Sniege) | Fine Art Ceramics | Dublin, Ireland Sniege is a Lithuanian ceramicist based In Dublin whose sculptural ceramics explore the metamorphosis of clay into narrative. Her creative path was not linear; after pursuing Classical Philology at Vilnius University and spending much of her professional life at the National Central Bank, her creative calling remained a constant undertow. This unique synthesis of ancient cultures and analytical structures informs a practice that functions as an alchemical laboratory. To ground her vision in technical mastery, she completed a four year professional program in ceramic technologies at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Sniege’s work is a dialogue between contrasting word - anatomical versus organic forms, or the Japanese aesthetics of Wabi-Sabi (imperfection) versus Miyabi (refined elegance). Drawing from Magical Realism and Surrealism, she captures the precise moment when matter becomes emotion. Her sculptures lives at the intersection of nature, psychology and ancient symbolism, aiming to evoke “hidden knowledge” and invite viewer into deep, meditative dialogue with subconscious. Currently immersed in her latest milestone “De Prima Materia” Sniege creates for “intellectual seeker” who is looking for philosophical weight behind a form. For her, the ceramic process is a “Theatre of Matter” - a transformation where the raw clay is ignited with a soul to perform a story rather than simply occupy a shelf. Her works have caught the attention of national broadcasters and are held by private and commercial collectors internationally. Working from “Throwing Shapes” Studio in Dublin she continues to push the boundaries of her sculptural evolution, seeing what stories the earth is trying to tell.
