State of Wonder NYC: Rotating Contemporary Art Group Shows for Emerging Artists

State of Wonder NYC is a rotating, free-form group exhibition series based in New York City, dedicated to showcasing the work of emerging and outsider artists. The project is split into ten distinct editions, each encouraging viewers to gradually consider the complexities of modern life from a wide variety of perspectives. By prioritizing native New Yorkers and artists raised by the Internet, State of Wonder NYC creates a dedicated platform for a new avant-garde to document personal notions of home, gentrification, and displacement within the present period. The curatorial approach for each show is intentionally traditional, despite the format for each event being loose and amorphous, resulting in immersive evening pop-ups that feature live music, local vendors, and open bars alongside coveted wall space. These events are designed as a celebration of art in the city, inviting the public to engage with creative works in an ephemeral and social setting. State of Wonder NYC acts as a bridge for artists working across various media to answer long-standing questions with twenty-first-century ideas. Proudly presented by Galerie Anty Warhol, the series explores themes of uncertainty and curiosity, offering viewers solace through the fresh eyes of a younger generation. Through its rotating roster and edition-based shows, such as Metropolitan Mind and Asphalt Armory, the project remains at the forefront of the contemporary art scene, fostering a community that rejects rigid tradition in favor of experimental and punchy storytelling.
