Stefania Missio | Contemporary Artist and Curator of Artist's Books
Stefania Missio is a distinguished Italian artist and curator whose practice is deeply rooted in the history and materiality of the "Libro d'Artista" (Artist's Book). Having studied medieval history and codification at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, Missio approaches art as a form of essential human organ, using the book format to contain complex visual and conceptual narratives. Her portfolio features significant series such as "Eneide"—an exploration of Virgil’s epic through 34 mixed-media works—and "The Mythical Project," which was featured at the Florence Biennale. Missio’s technical repertoire includes linoleum prints, etching, collage, and intricate embroidery on felt, as seen in "Il Capello di Euridice." Beyond her personal studio work, she is a dedicated curator, having organized numerous international exhibitions of artist's books in collaboration with institutions like the Biblioteca Casanatense and the Italian Cultural Institute. Currently active between Rome and Sardinia, Stefania Missio continues to bridge the gap between ancient tradition and contemporary expression through her limited edition works and multidisciplinary projects.
