Vincent Tanguy | Multi-Media Art, Performance & Sculptural Installations
Vincent Tanguy is a Paris-based contemporary artist whose practice explores the digital deluge, globalization, and the symbiosis between physical and virtual realities. Born in 1990 and currently working from his studio in Aubervilliers, France, Vincent Tanguy utilizes a multi-media approach—incorporating performance, video, sculpture, and installation—to transform contemporary urban experiences through a lens of poetry and humor. His work often addresses the intersection of technology and society, notably in "The Convenient Life" (2019), a performance set in Shanghai that pushed digital platform usage to its extremes. Another central project, "The Wandering" (2020), features a techno-romantic nocturnal journey through Shanghai, unsettling the boundary between real life and simulation. Vincent Tanguy also creates sculptural installations, such as "Connection Stadiums" and "Big Döners," which reinterpret everyday objects and global symbols. Vincent Tanguy has been recognized with awards including the Katapult Art Fund Prize (2021) and the ADAGP Dotation (2023). His work has been exhibited at major venues such as FRAC Bretagne, the Goethe-Institut Paris, and internationally at the Seoul Art Space Geumcheon in South Korea and the Japan Media Arts Festival in Tokyo. Through his visual research, Vincent Tanguy continues to investigate the "virtual double" and the evolving landscape of our hyper-connected world.
