Alexis Blanchard: Poetic Ceramic Art and Contemporary Product Design
Alexis Blanchard is a French designer and artist based in Lyon, France. His work is characterized by a unique fusion of scientific rationality and a poetic imagination, reflecting a diverse educational and professional background. Blanchard began his studies in Product Design at La Martinière Diderot in Lyon before pursuing a Higher Diploma in Applied Arts at the École Boulle in Paris. His early career included significant professional experiences in international design and architecture studios in Copenhagen and Stockholm, most notably with Classon Koivisto Rune. Since launching his freelance career in 2019, Blanchard has established a versatile studio practice that encompasses object design, graphic design, and professional photography. He has collaborated with prestigious luxury houses such as Hermes, Christian Dior, and Puiforcat, as well as editorial giants like The New York Times. In 2025, he expanded his artistic horizons by founding his own design house dedicated to ceramics. This venture marks a return to manual creation, where he produces unique Artefacts that are sold through his online shop. These ceramic pieces represent a departure from industrial luxury toward a more personal, tactile form of expression. His shop features a numbered collection of Artefacts, showcasing his ability to translate complex conceptual ideas into tangible, limited-edition objects. Blanchard's work continues to bridge the gap between high-end product design and contemporary art through a meticulously curated portfolio.
