Design LSC is rooted in thoughtful, idea-led design, with a strong emphasis on craft.
Great ideas rarely happen in isolation. They are shaped through dialogue, challenged by different perspectives, and strengthened by collaboration. Design LSC enjoy working closely with clients, creatives, and specialists who bring their own thinking to the table – people who care about what they do and value the craft behind it. It’s in these exchanges that ideas gain clarity, grow in ambition, and often take unexpected, exciting turns. For me, collaboration isn’t just a process – it’s the space where the best work happens. It brings energy, direction, and a shared sense of purpose to everything we create. After almost 20 years of running my design practice in Manchester, I relocated Design LSC to Lancashire – a move that brought a renewed sense of focus and space. The studio is now based in a beautifully restored Grade II listed Victorian mill chimney, on the banks of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, just outside the City of Preston, UK. It’s a light-filled, considered space – calm, purposeful, and full of character. Much like the work produced here, it reflects a deep appreciation for craft, heritage, and thoughtful design rooted in place. In addition to my studio work, I visit BA students, hosting workshops and giving lectures. My work and the things I talk about are centred around design craft and materiality. I also serve on the advisory board of the Northern Design Festival and Lancaster University’s School of Design.
