Erica Bailey: Visual Artist Specializing in Sculpture and Installation
Erica Bailey is a contemporary visual artist whose practice integrates sculpture, installation, and video to explore the complexities of human perception, time, and space. Originally from Ohio and having spent a decade living and working in New York City before relocating to California, Erica Bailey utilizes dioramas and vernacular architecture as primary tools for artistic investigation. Her installations often present empty, pure instances of space that challenge viewer expectations and suggest the transitory nature of conscious existence. By positioning disparate locations side-by-side within her work, she articulates relationships between time and environment, frequently focusing on themes of alienation, disorientation, and existential inquiry. Erica Bailey earned her BFA from The Ohio State University and her MFA from the University of Cincinnati. Notable exhibitions include solo shows at Smack Mellon and the Roswell Museum, as well as participation in the Bronx Calling biennial at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. Her work often utilizes 1/12 scale dioramas alongside video projections to create uncanny architectural collages that examine the psychological underpinnings of built space and the entanglement of memory with physical structures.
