Ferrara Showman Gallery Contemporary Art and Global Artist Representation
Ferrara Showman Gallery is a premier destination for contemporary art located on Julia Street in the historic Arts District of New Orleans. Founded in 1998 by artist and activist Jonathan Ferrara, the gallery evolved into its current partnership with Matthew Weldon Showman in 2024. The gallery operates with a "public conscience," aiming to be bold and make a significant cultural impact. Its diverse programming includes monthly curated exhibitions and special projects that feature local, national, and international talent from countries such as Cuba, Germany, and Nigeria. One of its most celebrated initiatives is NO DEAD ARTISTS, an international juried exhibition established nearly three decades ago to champion emerging voices in the art world. Ferrara Showman Gallery represents a wide roster of artists, including the photographic duo E2, which includes Elizabeth Kleinveld and Epaul Julien, as well as Paul Villinski and Bonnie Maygarden. The gallery's mission focuses on works that reflect purpose and message, spanning mediums from fine art photography to public sculpture. With a presence at major international art fairs and a commitment to the New Orleans community, Ferrara Showman Gallery continues to shape the global contemporary art landscape.
