Hatice Karakaş: Multi-disciplinary Visual Artist and Designer

Hatice Karakaş is a multi-disciplinary visual artist and designer based in Istanbul, Turkey. Her creative practice is defined by a poetic sense of storytelling that bridges several artistic disciplines, including painting, illustration, collage, fabric, and stop motion video art. This experimental exploration allows her to delve into complex themes such as home, space, identity, and the reconstruction of belonging. In January 2025, Hatice Karakaş presented her first solo exhibition, titled “Evdekiler,” at Maus Art Space. This show explored the search for new places while reflecting on the visual memories of domestic life and the concept of home. Her work has also been recognized in numerous curated group exhibitions, including “LOKAL02” at Eldem Sanat Alanı Dalyancı Konağı and “İçimizdekiler, Elimizdekiler” at Sabancı University’s Kasa Galeri. These exhibitions, often curated by prominent figures like Melike Bayık and Derya Yücel, highlight her engagement with contemporary social and psychological themes such as surveillance, freedom, and the human condition. In addition to her fine art practice, Hatice Karakaş is involved in art direction and creative strategy. Her professional portfolio includes branding, visual identity, and content management for various creative spaces and projects like Unique Dot Space and Dot’s Cafe. Her versatile approach to visual media, whether through a charcoal drawing or a digital content strategy, showcases a consistent dedication to artistic inquiry and visual harmony. Through her work, she continues to turn the artistic process into an experimental journey of discovery.
