Ilse Blankestijn's creative work

Ilse Natasja | Visual Artist Specialized in Lens-Based Media and Photography

Ilse Natasja is a Dutch visual artist born in 1992, currently based in the Netherlands. Her creative practice focuses on lens-based media, where she explores themes of womanhood and the complex interplay between strength and vulnerability, intimacy and distance, and desire and doubt. In 2023, she achieved her Bachelor of Arts with honors from the Dutch Academy for Applied Photography. Following her graduation, Ilse Natasja joined the FOTODOK talent program, Lighthouse, to further develop her artistic voice. Her approach is deeply intuitive, blending analog and digital techniques to produce authentic and moving visuals. She views her photography as a personal quest, often considering her images as a form of self-portraiture that captures intimate feelings and dreams. However, her work also touches on socially relevant and universal themes, inviting viewers to reflect on their own life experiences. Ilse Natasja has produced several notable projects, including 'Venus', 'Symbiosis', and 'Milk & Honey'. Each project utilizes symbolic and poetic art to inspire introspection and empathy. By establishing genuine connections with her subjects, she creates emotionally rich narratives that bridge the gap between the artist's personal world and the audience's perception. Through her work, she continues to push the boundaries of contemporary lens-based media while maintaining a high level of technical craftsmanship and conceptual depth.
