NARS Foundation Supporting International Artists and Curators
NARS Foundation (New York Art Residency and Studios Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization located in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Established in 2006, the organization is committed to providing essential professional development opportunities and studio spaces for emerging and mid-career artists and curators. By fostering a collaborative environment, NARS Foundation promotes international cultural exchange and community engagement through a diverse array of creative support services. The hallmark of the NARS Foundation is its International Artist Residency Program, which provides artists from around the world with three- or six-month residencies. Residents enjoy 24/7 access to furnished work studios and benefit from a rigorous schedule of studio visits with prominent curators, critics, and gallery directors. This program is designed to support the artistic process, encourage experimentation, and expand professional networks within the global art scene. Complementing this is the Studio Relief Program, which offers temporary subsidized studio space to New York-based artists facing financial hardship. In addition to residency programs, NARS Foundation operates a Main Gallery and Project Space that host curated exhibitions featuring local and international talent. These exhibitions are often accompanied by public programs such as artist talks, workshops, screenings, and bi-annual Open Studios. Through its educational outreach, the organization also works with local schools to inspire youth through hands-on visual arts experiences. By maintaining these multi-faceted platforms, NARS Foundation serves as a vital hub for artistic advocacy and cross-cultural dialogue.
