Raisan Hameed's creative work

Raisan Hameed | Multimedia Art and Fine Art Photography

Raisan Hameed is an Iraqi-German multimedia artist currently based in Leipzig, Germany. Born in Mosul, Iraq, in 1991, his artistic journey is deeply informed by his heritage and the lived experiences of conflict and displacement. Raisan Hameed completed his Meisterschüler studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (HGB) under Prof. Tina Bara, refining a visual language that is both subtle and metaphorical. His work frequently centers on the transformation of personal and intimate visual memories into universal narratives, addressing the profound wounds inflicted on societies by political violence and history. Through acclaimed projects such as 'Zer-Störung' and 'Embers of Narratives,' he explores the materiality of images and the invisibility of history, often incorporating archival photographs and digital tools like Google Street View to bridge gaps between past and present. As an artistic lecturer at HGB Leipzig, Raisan Hameed continues to engage with contemporary discourses on conflict, resilience, and remembrance. His multidisciplinary approach spans photography, installation, and video, earning international recognition in exhibitions across cities like Berlin, Paris, and Rome. His practice serves as a critical examination of a fragile world shaped by transience and the enduring human spirit.
