Valerio Francini - Independent Filmmaker and Director

Valerio Francini is an independent filmmaker based in Rome, Italy. His work has been recognized by festivals such as EMVA, TIMVA, TISFF, and RSFF. He began with analog photography at a young age, developing an early sensitivity to light, texture, and composition, which later evolved into a deep interest in cinema and visual storytelling. His practice moves between music videos and short films, often exploring intimate and atmospheric narratives. Alongside filmmaking, he studied philosophy, a path chosen to shape his way of thinking and observing reality, deeply influencing his approach to images and storytelling. He primarily shoots on 16mm and Super 8 film, not only for aesthetic reasons, but for the working process they require, believing that the limitations of film during the act of creation are an immense creative richness
